Coesia announces agreement to sell IPI to Japanese Oji Holdings Corporation

Coesia, a Group of innovation-based industrial and packaging solution companies, together with Oji Holdings Corporation, a leader in the pulp and paper industry in Japan, announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement, under which IPI Srl, a leading supplier of aseptic carton packaging for the beverage and liquid food industry, based in San Sisto (Perugia), will be sold to the Japanese Group, ensuring the safeguarding of the human resources.

IPI, which has been part of Coesia since 2013, employs 170 people and generated sales in 2022 of approximately 65 million euros. The Company provides packaging materials, state-of-the-art aseptic filling machines and tailored technical service support, and operates in over 50 countries, IPI packaging, due to its multilayer structure, is primarily used for milk and dairy products, non-carbonated soft drinks such as fruit juices, wine, and spirits, in addition to liquid foods such as soups, tomato sauce and other sauces.

Oji Holdings Corporation, which is currently operating as a distributor for IPI in the Asian market, is a Japanese pulp and paper company headquartered in Ginza, Tokyo. With 27,360 employees and 156 subsidiaries worldwide, it was ranked the third largest company in its sector internationally in 2012. Oji Holdings Corporation is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange with a market capitalization of approximately 3.8 billion euros. The company has 86 production sites throughout Japan, and forestry operations in Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, New Zealand, and other countries worldwide.

IPI’s technology and know-how will be an important instrument in the development of Oji in the paper sector, in particular concerning aseptic paper solutions. Oji and IPI are already working together in order to expand their business globally.
